The star has given the full amount of his twenty-five thousand pound award prize money to the trust for venues, which works to save the UK's grassroots concert spaces.

Fender was given the cheque on October 16 as his new release his work was chosen as the outstanding release of the last 12 months.

He has chosen to hand the money over to the MVT, in acknowledgment of the vital role local spots fulfilled in his early career.

"As an artist wouldn't be doing this success if it weren't for all the shows I played around the North East, and further afield, when I was just getting going," said the artist. "These spaces are legendary, but they are struggling."

Beginning in 2023, more than 150 of these venues have ceased operations – roughly 16 percent of the whole industry in the UK.

In the last year, major artists including the band Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all aided the Music Venues Trust in its attempts to help venues survive, by including a minor surcharge to their ticket costs, which benefits smaller concert halls.

Fender also joined in, generating over £100k on his 2024 arena tour to assist thirty-eight grassroots venues across England, Scotland, and Wales.

These funds helped locations that were dealing with potential shutdown due to challenges arising from water damage, fire incidents and family tragedies, as well as permit problems, conflicts and sound issues.

Other venues obtained monetary aid in modernizing facilities and gear that helped performers and concertgoers.

"The concept that funds from performances in large arenas helps the independent spots, where it all starts for artists like me, is just common sense," Fender has stated.

The musician is among several artists to contribute his honor winnings to worthy causes.

Back when Pulp earned the trophy in the mid-90s for their record their work, frontman Jarvis Cocker stated that the band would donate their cash to the organization the charity.

During 2002, musician Ms Dynamite split her award across a few good causes, including the NSPCC and a charity for Sickle Cell.

"And I gave a thousand pounds to my local community centre, to their classes, because I practiced gymnastics when I was younger and they required updated gear," Ms Dynamite shared with the media.

Two years ago, they donated their winnings to the youth organization that developed their band, in addition to other local music groups.

Additionally 1994 winners the group donated their prize to a charity for MS after a close contact was identified with the disease.

"The victory was sufficient," remarked vocalist Heather Small. "The prize was the bonus but we didn't require the bonus, because we had the main prize. So our success impacted somebody else's life."

Last week, the MVT announced it had saved two small stages in that region, by bringing them into public stewardship.

The first in that area and the other in that location were purchased under the community ownership scheme, which is funded by Arts Council England and music fans who buy "stakes" in the properties.
